Who We Are
A Bengaluru studio designing for the way Indian families actually live
Vastukala began in 2006 in a two-room office off Cunningham Road. Aditya Rao had just left a large architecture practice, convinced that the interiors being built across Indian cities were being borrowed wholesale from European catalogues — and then failing, quietly, in their first monsoon.
Eighteen years on we are 42 people across three cities, with our own joinery workshop in Peenya and a materials library that runs from Athangudi tiles to Channapatna lacquerwork. What has not changed is the working method: the designer who draws a detail is the one who walks the site to check it got built that way.
We have delivered over 640 projects — apartments in Koramangala, villas in Whitefield, a boutique hotel in Jaipur, workplaces in Cyber City. Roughly two in five come from a client we have already worked with, or someone they sent.

BWP-grade ply in wet zones, cross-ventilation studied before layout is frozen, and finishes chosen to survive humidity, hard water and dust.

Our joinery team has been with the studio an average of nine years. Sourcing trips take us to Jodhpur, Karaikudi, Moradabad and Channapatna.
We will tell you what not to spend on
Imported hardware in a guest bedroom rarely earns its cost. We would rather put that budget into the kitchen you use three times a day.

Concept & Layout
Mood boards, material samples in hand, and two layout options priced against the same BOQ.

Design Development
Working drawings, 3D walkthroughs and services coordination signed off before demolition begins.

Execution & Handover
Weekly site photos, a snag list you sign, and a maintenance folder handed over with the keys.
